Reclaim the Dream
"..thriving rural metropolis in “Outback Queensland”. .."
You may be wondering as you browse through the Web and have found this Cosmos Country Tourism site, just what else there could be in a place so remote from civilization as Charleville.
Firstly, we are not as remote as you may think. A comfortable day’s drive on fully sealed roads from Brisbane, a short plane trip or an overnight on the train will bring you to this thriving rural metropolis in “Outback Queensland”.
"..the latest in fashion.."
Some folk here wear Akubras too, but if you are into something more chic, visit us at Melbourne Cup time. Join the crowds at the Racecourse Complex for a day of wining and dining, and the latest in fashion including a hat extravaganza to remember. The Racecourse Complex itself is a great, modern venue capable of hosting a wide range of events. You would be hard pressed to find such a versatile venue anywhere else.

Accommodation facilities are of the same standard and are well maintained as well as competently staffed. Browse through this site for more info on these. The local pubs, clubs and restaurants are superb and offer choices for all. They provide the same services as in the city, and others, which are unique to Charleville, all in the friendliest of ways.
"...this band go to Ireland now and then to help the Irish sing"..

Forget all your preconceptions about the Bush. Yes, some of us wear elastic side boot, including one of our G.P’s This is a man of many talents with a bushy beard to match, Dr. Chester Wilson. In Chester you will find not only expert medical attention but a genuine bush legend as well Pick up a copy of a “Ned and the Kelly’s” C.D. while here and you will hear why.

While listening, ponder this……this band go to Ireland now and then to help the Irish sing. Chester’s is one of two private medical practices in Charleville.

We also have a well-staffed, up to date Hospital with two permanent doctors and emergency and outpatients care.

In addition there is The Royal Flying Doctors Base, which covers the vast expanse of South Western Queensland and provides medical transport to larger centers when required.

"...with friendliness and good bush humour..."
Not many rural places have a choice of supermarkets or butcher’s shops. We have two supermarkets, sundry corner stores, delis, cafes, three butchers and two bakeries. No one should go hungry in Charleville.
